Barcelona is located on the north-east coast of Spain and it is one of the top summer holidays destinations in Europe. The main airport serving the city is El Prat International Airport and it is just over 11 miles from Barcelona. It receives international and low cost flights to the city.

There are a number of ways to get from the airport to your destination. Here are the options below with the approximate costs and journey times.

Taxi

You will probably pay around €25 from Terminal 2 and €30 from Terminal 1 to the centre of Barcelona. You will also be charged for each piece of luggage. The journey should take between 20 and 30 minutes.

Bus

The Aerobus is perhaps one of the most popular methods of getting from the airport to the city. If you don’t want to spend a lot on a taxi, this is the perfect alternative. A one-way ticket costs about €5.05 and a return ticket, valid for 9 days, costs around €8.65. The main stops in the city centre are at Plaza España and Plaza Cataluña. The return journey from Plaza Cataluña to the airport takes around 40 minutes; from Plaza España it is about 25 minutes. These buses are relatively frequent and run from around 5.30 a.m. until 1 a.m.

The TMB Airport Bus Number 46 also runs from the airport to Plaza España and vice versa, and the cost of the journey is about €1.40. Journey times range between 25 minutes and 55 minutes depending on the traffic. Advantages of taking this bus are that it is cheaper and you can use a T10 Travel Card. This card costs around €8, depending on the number of zones you purchase, and you can use it for 10 journeys on the bus, metro or RENFE trains.

If you arrive during the night you will have to take the Barcelona Airport Nightbus N17 service.

Train

The train leaves from Terminal 2 at the airport and the journey time takes around 20 minutes. You can use a T10 Travel Card on the train.
